History

The New Heritage Group is the privately held family office group for the Tao family, founded by C.F. Tao and managed by his sons Richard and Paul. The Group developed and managed multiple residential complexes and retail centres in the PRC from 1991 to 2014. The PRC property development and investment businesses were successfully listed by IPO (initial public offereing) on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in December 2005 and traded as New Heritage Holdings Ltd (HKSE code 95).

In 2014, the Tao family sold their controlling interest in the listed company to a third party and reverted to a private company to continue their investment businesses as a pioneer developer as well as an alternative investor in leading technologies and applications.

A Pioneer Property Developer

New Heritage has been a pioneer property developer and investor in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) since 1978. Its projects have always aimed to be meaningful and beneficial to the local community and incorporated forward-thinking design concepts. We have developed from the ground up mixed-use projects with hotel, office and retail components as well as purely residential or commercial buildings. We also co-develop and co-invest with strategic partners across the globe and can also act in the capacity of joint-venture partner, lead developer or limited partner.

Our development projects in the PRC have won prestigious prizes for some of their architects and we have actively participated in urban planning and urban design consultations with various local municipalities in the PRC as an important part of our community-benefit belief. We look forward to working with all parties who share similar views. No project is too big or too small, as long as it is meaningful.

An Alternative Investor

New Heritage’s current portfolio and past direct or indirect interests have included shipping, logistics, real estate, tea plantations, factories, private equity and venture capital investments.
Subsequent to divestment of New Heritage’s publicly listed controlling interest, the investment committee embarked on new economy plays in the pharmaceutical industry, IoT, private equity, venture capital sectors as well as co-investment in biosynthesis, gaming platform companies, fintech, co-work space aggregators and flexible meeting space operators.

Investment horizons can range from months to years but the value proposition is to engage with the best minds in the business and source deals through trusted and reliable GPs. Introductions to other family offices and investors are in turn our appeal to the GPs.
